an abandoned island just off the coast of Japan.

beautiful how everything is just naturally decaying with all the ephemeral items left strewn in buildings and the dystopia laden views

criterion covers

as a massive fan of films, one of the main reasons i wanted to become a graphic artist was down to the inspiring images of covers i saw as a child.

this has not changed and if you haven't ever seen the criterion collections extended visual feast it is a must. here are the two main designers for the company…

words

WORDS by Everynone is a lovely means of expressing the multitude of meanings behind words depending upon context and spelling… each one played out cunningly to portray that interpretation in context of it's use.

Beyond the technical details, the film stops you for the duration of it's playing and grabs your attention purely on its intelligent and emotional scenes of everyday people.

Muchlike the trailer for 'life in a day' captured the essence of humanity, so has this but on a smaller scale (or grander depending on your view)

enjoy!

cinemagraphs

A fantastic camera experiment by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg who subtly animate still photographic images frame by wonderful frame. Helps that the majority of the images are of women but this helps further add mystery and beauty to the depicted figures. You fall in love. Reminded of the Andy Warhol film's were nothing would happen for 30 minutes and then one of the filmed people would move their eyes… http://cinemagraphs.com/magical!
